Wholesale Nitrile Gloves: Buyer RFQ & Supplier Checklist

Wholesale buyer inspecting black, orange and purple nitrile glove samples at a warehouse review table

A useful nitrile glove request for quotation is not “send your best price for 6 mil black gloves.” That leaves suppliers free to quote different thickness locations, grades, counts, factories, documents and delivery terms. A buyer-ready RFQ defines the task, product, evidence, commercial terms and acceptance process before price comparison begins.

Quick answer: Send every supplier the same written specification, annual forecast, size mix, delivery destination and quotation basis. Require product-level documents, lot traceability, change control and a representative sample. Trial the glove with real users, record failures by size and task, and make the final purchase order incorporate the approved specification.

1. Describe the business need

  • industry and exact tasks;
  • substances, duration, frequency and expected change points;
  • country and channel where the product will be sold or used;
  • current glove and the specific problem the buyer wants to solve;
  • first order, annual forecast and target launch or replenishment date.

“Automotive,” “food” or “salon” alone is not an adequate intended use. One industry can contain light handling, chemical transfer, heat, sharps and cleaning tasks that require different solutions.

2. Lock the product specification

Field What the RFQ should state
Category General industrial, food-contact, examination or other exact intended category
Material and powder Nitrile formulation requirement and powder-free status
Thickness Target and tolerance at fingertip, palm and/or cuff, with test method
Dimensions Length, palm width and size-specific tolerances
Surface Smooth, fingertip texture or full texture; chlorination or coating if relevant
Physical performance Tensile, elongation, freedom-from-holes or other required criteria and test methods
Color and odor Approved range and unacceptable variation
Packaging Gloves per dispenser, dispensers per case, size count, carton and pallet configuration

3. Request evidence for the exact SKU

Ask for a product specification, current test reports, declarations or registrations required by the target market, quality-system information, country of origin, manufacturer identity, lot-code format and sample certificate of analysis or conformity where applicable. Match the model number, factory and claim across every document.

A general factory certificate does not prove that a particular glove is food-contact suitable, examination grade, chemotherapy tested, fentanyl resistant or compatible with a named chemical. Treat every marketing claim as unsupported until it is tied to the exact product and relevant evidence.

4. Quote the same commercial basis

Require each supplier to state:

  • price per 100 and per case;
  • currency and Incoterm;
  • freight, duty, brokerage and tax inclusion;
  • MOQ and whether it applies by size, color, artwork or total order;
  • production, transit and delivered lead time;
  • payment terms and quote validity;
  • sample, tooling, plate, inspection and packaging charges;
  • pallet quantity, case dimensions, gross weight and container loading if relevant.

5. Qualify samples in two stages

Desk review: confirm the sample label, lot, specification and documents match the quote. Inspect packaging, dimensions, visible defects, odor and size consistency.

Field trial: issue coded samples to representative users and tasks. Record fit, donning tears, fingertip control, grip, task duration, required changes, irritation reports and any hazard that requires another glove. Do not ask only “which feels better?”

Where repeat consistency matters, request samples from more than one production lot or make the first purchase a controlled trial order. A perfect sales sample is not evidence of lot-to-lot control.

6. Define acceptance and change control

The purchase order should reference the approved specification and sample, incoming inspection, nonconformance process, retained samples, traceability and notice required before changes to factory, formulation, dimensions, colorant, surface treatment, packaging or critical supplier. Without a change-control clause, the buyer may need to requalify a product after the change has already reached the warehouse.

Red flags before award

  • The quote says only “6 mil” without a measurement point or tolerance.
  • Product names or model numbers do not match across reports.
  • The supplier will not identify the legal manufacturer or origin.
  • Claims exceed the evidence provided.
  • The MOQ, size split or delivered terms are missing.
  • The supplier refuses written change notification.
  • Only one perfect sample is available and no lot information is shown.
  • The price is presented without freight, quote validity or payment terms.

A weighted supplier scorecard

Category Suggested weight Evidence
Product and field-trial fit 25% Trial data by task and size
Quality and documentation 25% Matched product records, traceability and quality plan
Landed commercial value 20% Normalized delivered quote and payment terms
Supply reliability 15% Capacity, lead-time history, backup and change control
Packaging and channel readiness 10% Approved artwork, carton, barcode and pallet plan
Service 5% Response, claims handling and account support

Mandatory regulatory, safety or customer requirements remain pass/fail gates outside the weighted score. Set weights before supplier responses are opened.

Wholesale buyer FAQ

Should a buyer ask every glove supplier for the best price first?

No. First make the specification and quote basis identical. Otherwise the lowest number may describe a different product or delivery obligation.

Is an approved glove sample enough?

No. Pair it with a written specification, lot identity, acceptance plan and change-control terms.

When should a buyer consider private label?

After repeat demand, size mix and product fit are known well enough to support MOQ, packaging work, working capital and quality ownership.

What should a buyer send UYKKE for a useful wholesale quote?

Send the application, target glove, sizes, first order, annual volume, delivery location, required documents and timing to contact@uykke.com.
